This past month, Chipotle and Strava launched a partnership called "The City Challenge" to kick off the new year.
I sort of knew about it last year, when I saw some friends run that segment
This year, I was intent on participating more actively. Since October, I've already running more mileage than I ever had. I was already running 50+ miles a week.
The First Days (Jan 2)
The challenge started pretty mildly. I fell behind immediately because I was a day late to the challenge. I didn't know about it until I already finished my Monday run
Saturday Long Run (Jan 4)
I had an 18 mile workout on the deck. The run was supposed to be 2 easy + 8 MP + 1 easy + 6 MP. This was the first day I had to run fast on this segment.

After getting home from the easy 8 mile run with my friend, I was just about to make dinner when she texted me "did you see that they are ending the challenge?" I had no clue what she was talking about.
I logged back on to the challenge page and saw the update:
Challenge Ended: January 9, 2025 - Los Angeles, your health and safety is our greatest priority. Due to the devasting wildfires that are impacting the area, the Chipotle Los Angeles Segment Challenge was closed. The Local Legend who had completed the greatest number of attempts at the conclusion of the competition was awarded with Lifestyle Bowls for a Year.
